I was on a business trip last week to Pune. I happened to come
across this gem for dinner and a couple of drinks.
Hyatt Regency Pune is
conveniently located within Weikfield IT Park and is 5-minutes away from Pune
International Airport and around 15
minutes drive from The Le Meridien.
What catches your
attention in the hotel lobby is the one-floor length chandelier whose crystals
sparkle as you walk below it, onward towards the Hyatt Regency's restaurants
and bar.
After a long day at work,
we decided to sit back with a couple of drinks.
The Single Malt & Co.
bar and lounge offers a wide range of Single Malt whiskies and other liquors,
wines, beers, cocktails and very importantly, mocktails in a very
elegant setting. The Bar is
located close to the hotel’s dramatic entrance.
The bar has some live
music and some indulging view of the live kitchen of the adjacent cafe.
My colleague went for a
frozen margarita whereas I settled for a virgin mojito.
The drinks were amazingly
great and bursting with freshness. My mojito had some wedges of mandarin
oranges and lime and was oozing with loads of freshness. The drink was too good
that it was impossible to resist the second round!
After the drinks, we
headed for some Italian food at the much talked about La Terrazza.
The restaurant is huge and
very tastefully designed.
What was surprising for us
was its being empty over a Saturday night!
The temperature was very
cold inside and we were offered seating outside where weather was very nice and
conductive to food and talking!
It's been a year since the Italian
restaurant La Terrazza has been opened at the Hyatt.
The restaurant derives its name from the
large terrace, where you can sit back with your food and drinks. The menu had
some simple preparations of some classics and was simply delightful. The staff was
young, enthusiastic and happy to serve.
From the outside we had some stunning views
of the live kitchen through the glass wall
where we could see wood fired pizzas being rolled out.
As we sat at the table, we were served on a wooden plate
, deliciously hot crusty ciabatta bread with freshly made (basil) pesto and a
tomato-basil dip
Our bread basket was seamlessly replenished.
We ordered for a vegetarian minestrone soup which was piping hot .
The taste was okay, however, the vegetables
were slightly overcooked and were struggling to retain their ‘bite’.
Next came our sphagetti pasta in arabiatta
sauce which was enough for two of us. We had anyways stuffed ourself gorging on
the freshly baked ciabatta.
No eggless or gelatinfree dessert was on
the menu.We decided to skip the dessert.
Soon a platter of Indian sweets arrived and
it was on the house.
The overall dining experience was great but
could have been better only if the desserts were customized to be 100%
vegetarian.
